GREETINGS FROM IOWA!!!!

Ann & Roger

I can't believe it time to update this, as always it’s been a busy year and sale time is quickly rolling around, we hope you have September 24 marked on your calendar and you can join us for our annual private treaty sale and limousin get together. We have so many blessings to be thankful for, we just need to pause and “thank God” for all he has given us. As many of you already know we are now very proud “grandparents”. Mason and Emlyn have really added alot to our lives, they are really getting to such a fun age, where everything is an adventure. Mason comes to the farm and loves to go for the tractor and 4 wheeler rides, needless to say papa is very special to him. We had a fun time with Emmy for her 2nd birthday, swimming and opening presents and watching her drive her princess car.  Life is just too much fun at age 2.

2011 has been a great year, we calved 40 cows with 41 calves.  Had a great Iowa Beef Expo and have sold ALOT of 2012 Iowa Bred Heifer Raffle tixs, it will be very exciting to hear the winner on Feb. 15 at Noon during the ILA Limousin sale.

With all the devistation in our country with all sorts of weather, and the Missouri basin all the flooding so close to home, our crops looked the best ever until August 18 a hard rain and wind storm came through.  We have 20+acres of FLAT CORN with about 80+ acres very twisted. All said it should make for an intersting harvest.  Can't find anyone willing to try to make silage form the 20 acres, 180+ bushels an acre on the flat on the ground. Our pastures have held up well with plenty of moisture even though July was HOT.

Roger is still “the best hoof trimmer in SWI” and puts in long hours farming and then he does bovine pedicures. He judged a couple of county fairs. He loves spending time with the 4-H kids and youth. He does a fine job taking care of the showring and him &Deb again worked with the 4-Hers in the showring prior to show day, they also take the sale of champions pictures during the Westfair sale.   Roger even got in a couple of great fishing trips to Pierre, SD both times bringing home his limit and a ton of fish stories.
We are very excited IOWA is again hosting the 2012 NALJA show and look forward to seeing all of our Limousin family in Des Moines next July.  Roger and I will be providing all of you some great food and Iowa hospitality. We look forward to seeing everyone down the road at Limousin events I currently serve as Secretary on the Westfair board, financial secretary for the Heartland Limousin Assn. and serve as the ILA Sale Coordinator for the Iowa Beef Expo Sale. These things all keep me plenty busy. Of course Roger is always there helping with things to as well as having cattle. We love getting together with our limousin friends, and watching some of their kids grow up in the breed.

Now on to Vorthmann Limousin, our next love. We hope you plan to attend our private treaty sale, Saturday, September 24. We will be posting pictures in early September and invite you to stop by anytime, just give us a call. The base prices will be established about 1 week prior and cattle may be claimed at any time, but no cattle will be sold before 2 pm on September 24. View the cattle and stick around for a pretty awesome lunch. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to give us a call or send an email to me.

ann-roger@cattleplanet.com   We look forward to seeing you soon.

ChadGarin & Emlyn have had an exciting year since Emmy has turned two.  The precious little one is in full potty training mode and loves Skyping with Grandma and Papa.  Chad is the Vice President of Organization for

Colorado Farm Bureau and Garin is a lobbyist at Colorado Legislative Services.   They both love their jobs immensely and the challenge of being parents. Chad loves to hunt and hopefully will have some more good hunting stories at the sale this fall!  We enjoy working on our house and yard, which seems to be a never ending cycle.  We also have a "princess" puppy named Niny who enjoys being a "big sister" to Emlyn.  You can follow us on our blog at www.garinandchad.com

Deb helps out around Vorthmann Limousin and also continues to free-lance fit cattle for people. She is loves spending time with her nephew Mason and niece Emlyn. It is so much fun being an Aunt! Deb has settled into her house rather comfortably and always seems to be busy doing stuff.  She likes spending time in the yard and playing with Gracie her Golden Retriever and her kitties. She keeps busy with her church and with her family and friends.  Deb continues to enjoy the nutritional benefits of MonaVie.  Let her know if you want any information on the products.  She had a great time with her friends at the lake over Labor Day weekend!

Erica, Josh& Mason are excited that it’s finally fall. Mason is looking forward to the cooler weather so he can spend more time outside. Mason has been currently studying the art of potty time and has proven to be a fast learner,

especially when bribed with gummy worms and/or skittles. He now tells Mommy when it’s time to go and stays dry most days. Last spring Erica started her new role as a Research Analyst with The MSR Group. It’s a great job with tons of variety so there is never a boring moment. Josh has been with TD Ameritrade for 4 years now, and is currently working as an IT Security Analyst. As with IT in general, the only constant is that everything’s always changing. Mason spends lots of time at grandma and papa’s house, loves to go on tractor rides, and already likes to go to the show barn to help brush the heifers. When he looks out at the pasture he asks if those are his cows! We can’t wait for Mason to get a little older so he can follow in mommy’s footsteps and start showing.
